The LEEF certification program was developed by an executive committee with the Northeast Division of Canteen Vending & Highland Estates Coffee Traders. The goal of this program is to promote and provide “green” (sustainable) practices and solutions not only within our own business, but with our customers and clients. In order to be certified by LEEF individual branches must meet a set criterion of standards. The Board of Directors of LEEF certify branches at one of three levels (Silver, Gold, or Platinum) based upon achievement of these standards.
LEEF was created to accomplish the following:
Define "green practices" by establishing a common standard of measurement
Promote integrated, green practices
Recognize environmental leadership in the foodservice industry
Stimulate green competition
Raise consumer awareness of green benefits
Transform the vending, refreshment service model
LEEF members, representing the Northeast Division of Canteen from each discipline (vending, refreshment services and foodservice), developed and continue to refine LEEF. Our rating system addresses four major areas:
Leadership in Corporate Responsibility
Energy Conservation
Environmental Stewardship
Fleet Sustainability
The LEEF scoring systems is based on a set of minimum requirements required in the four (4) major categories listed above. In our rating system branches can qualify for three (3) levels of certification:
Silver
Gold
Platinum
LEEF certification is obtained after submitting an application documenting compliance with the requirements of the rating system. Certification is granted solely by Canteens Green Council responsible for issuing the LEEF system used in the branches.
